The Maryville College volleyball team earned a spot in the USA South semifinal with a thrilling 3-0 sweep of Berea College in the tournament quarterfinals in Maryville, Tennessee on Tuesday evening.
Following a 3-1 victory over LaGrange in the tournament's first round, Berea advanced to challenge the USA South west division No. 1 seeded Scots.
Maryville took the match over Berea by the scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-16.
Maryville's Brianne Sidner posted a double-double her final match on Randy Lambert Court with a match-high 11 kills and match-high 16 digs. Maggie Matthews finished with 11 kills while Dejane Hester-Taylor deposited nine kills on a 53-percent attack percentage.
Saidee McDaniel and Meredith Bonee directed an efficient offense that attacked at a 26-percent clip with 17 and 12 assists respectively. McDaniel completed a double-double of her own with an additional 11 defensive digs. Natalie Watts was stellar on defense with a match-high 16 digs.
Hannah Headrick and Allana Knowles paced Berea with seven and six kills each while Carolina Robles and Ballie Parker returned ten digs each.
Berea ends their season 12-17 and 6-6 in regular season USA South action. Maryville looks to extend their 17-match win streak this weekend in Danville, Virginia. Maryville (25-6) will take on Meredith (20-8) in the USA South tournament semifinals on Friday, November 8th.
