Maryville College took down Berea College in three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-20.
Saidee McDaniel led the Scots in their 3-0 sweep of the Mountaineers while surpassing the 2,000 career assist mark. She would reach this very impressive milestone in the middle of the first set.
McDaniel would end the night with 2020 assists. She was very humble in her response, "It's a pretty big accomplishment, but stats never really mean that much to me. After this past weekend, I noticed I had 1,999, and thought that was pretty cool." She continued to comment on the rest of her season after having made eclipsed this plateau. "Excited. Because we aren't even completely done with the conference play, I think it gets me pumped to see how many more my team can get me."
McDaniel would lead Maryville College on a 15-point run to begin the second set before the Scots would give up a couple of errors to open the set at 15-2. McDaniel picked up four service aces during this run to give MC a huge offensive boost and take the second set. She finishes with 21 assists on the evening.
McDaniel ended with a double-double as she also picked up 11 digs to help bolster the defensive efforts.
Maggie Mathews would add an impressive 12 kills while hitting .450 on the evening.
Meredith Bonee would almost pull out a double-double as she tallied nine kills in helping the Scots' huge offensive effort. Bonee would also add an impressive 13 assists from her flex position.
Dejane Hester-Taylor would add to her impressive hitting percentage by landing all five kills in play during the match.
The Scots are looking to defend their six-game win streak as they will be heading to LaGrange College to play a pair of matches on Saturday against USA South foes Huntingdon and LaGrange.
