Van Hook's game-winner lifts Scots past Brevard 2-0

The Maryville College women's soccer team remained undefeated in USA South challenges with a 2-0 shutout road victory over Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina late Tuesday evening.

Zoe Van Hook took a Lexie Hill pass and connected for her second goal of the season just before the 43rd minute of the first half.

While Maryville outshot the host Tornados 25-3 with 15 blasts on frame, MC keeper Abbey Coleman kept the net clean with a pair of saves.

The game-winner by Van Hook was the sixth of the Oak Ridge native's three-year career.

Maryville added an insurance goal in the 48th minute when Abbie Anderson connected with reigning USA South and Tennessee Sports Writer's Player of the Week Taylor Frizen. Frizen deposited her 11th goal of the season to complete the match scoring.

The victory advances the Scots to 11-4 overall and 7-0 in league play. Brevard falls to 5-8-3 overall and 4-4 in USA South action.

Maryville will conclude their regular season schedule on Sunday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m. when they host LaGrange College for senior day. Coach Pepe Fernandez and his staff will celebrate the careers of Kelly Allen, Shannon Reagan, and Hannah Clothier.
