The Maryville College women's soccer team tallied a pair of goals in each half while the defense pitched a shutout to allow the Scots to post a 4-0 USA South victory over Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday afternoon.
Maryville's Bailey Sipos finished with her second hat-trick of the season.
Two minutes into the challenge, Sipos deposited an unassisted goal for the eventual game winner. She took a Lexie Hill pass and slipped a shot past the Hawk keeper at the five-minute mark to give the Scots a 2-0 advantage going into the half.
At the intermission, Huntingdon out-shot the Scots 4-2, but MC made the best of their pair of attacks with a Sipos brace.
Maryville extended their lead in the second period when Sipos completed her hat-trick in the 61st minute striking an unassisted goal past Hawk keeper Kylie Kersh. The goal was Sipos' 9th of her sophomore campaign and 24th of her career.
The Scots completed their scoring in the 87th minute when Savannah Lickel tallied her second goal of the season with an unassisted goal.
MC went on the offensive in the final period outshooting their hosts 7-4.
MC Head Soccer Coach Pepe Fernandez had this to say about his squad's effort on Saturday. "The team came out on a mission. The individual performances by Baliey and Abbie in goal were fantastic but more importantly the team performance was high quality."
The win advances Maryville to 5-4 on the season and 2-0 in USA South action. Huntingdon falls to 3-4-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
MC will complete their USA South road trip on Sunday when they challenge Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. First touch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
