The Maryville College women picked up their 20th win of the season on senior day with a 78-55 victory over LaGrange College in a USA South match up on Sunday in Boydson Baird gymnasium.
With six seniors playing their final game, the Scots got off to a slow start, trailing by a score of 13-12 with just over 12:00 minutes to go in the first half. Maryville then held their opponents scoreless for the next 9:55 while building a 36-23 halftime lead. In the second half Maryville pulled farther ahead on their way to a 78-55 win.
Kiera Payne had a huge night on the boards gathering in a game high 18 rebounds to go along with her 12 points four assists and two blocks. Janell Menard led the Scots in scoring with 22 points and Tayler Smith scored 11 in the seniors final home game. Freshman Mackenzie Puckett came off the bench and contributed 17 of her own to the win.
The victory improves the number 23 ranked Scots to 20-3 on the season and 14-2 in conference USA South. Maryville will close out the regular season with a two game road trip to North Carolina next weekend where they will meet Greensboro on Saturday Feb. 16 and then go up against Methodist University on Sunday, Feb. 17th. Both games tip off at 2:00.
