The Maryville College Lady Scots cruised to their 11th consecutive victory following a 70-45 defeat of Methodist University on Sunday afternoon.
The Scots attacked the Monarch's zone with great precision hitting 8-of-13 treys in the first half. A 54% shooting effort from the field and a defense that forced 10 turnovers on eight steals allowed MC to boast of a 44-22 halftime lead.
Maryville allowed Methodist only a 31% shooting effort to close the game while forcing an additional 11 turnovers.
Methodist (8-5, 3-3 USA South) was paced by Iesha Hayes' 14 points. Chandler Christensen deposited 13 points while Brianna Robinson led the Monarchs with seven rebounds.
Maryville (12-1, 6-0 USA South) used a double-double effort by senior post player Tayler Smith. Smith dropped 17 points in 24 minutes of action while recording a game-high 10 rebounds. Janell Menard was 5-for-10 from the field while finishing with 13 points. Lailah Farmer directed MC's offense with five assists and was strong on defense with an additional five steals. Lauren Burnett and Donja Robbins each added eight points to MC's attack.
The Scots will now look forward to hosting Ferrum College on Wednesday evening. The Panthers of Ferrum, Scots, and Captains of CNU are all undefeated in league challenges to date. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. in MC's Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
