The Maryville College men's golf program finished the third and final round of the 2018 Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. The Scots finished the tournament at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee in 13th place following a final team round of 313.
Eastern Kentucky University claimed the team title by one stroke over Carson Newman University. EKU posted a 287-277-286 (850) for a 14-under par performance. Carson Newman kept pace with a 294-275-282 (851) to finish second.
Maryville completed the three-day challenge with rounds of 307-299-313 (919).
Tom Forster (Carson Newman) took individual honors with a strong 13-under par effort scoring 71-65-67 (203). Marshall's Alex Weiss finished three strokes off the pace for s second place finish with scores of 68-69-69 (206).
Maryville's top finisher was Garrett Compliment. He placed 42nd with a 73-74-77 (224). Tyler Bray overcame a tough first day with a 54th place finish on scores of 80-73-76 (229). Wil Manuel posted a 65th place finish with consistent rounds of 78-77-77 (232). D.J. Shelton and Doug Whitten finished MC's team scoring with 71st and 79th place finished respectively. Shelton posted a 76-75-85 (236) while Whitten finished 83-78-83 (244). Golfing as an independent for the Scots, Hunter DeSena placed 81st with an 85-78-83 (246).
Maryville will now prepare for the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama on March 26-27.
