Scots improve eight strokes in second round of Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

The Maryville College men's golf program shaved off eight strokes from their first round effort at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Monday. The Scots posted a 299 in the second round of the tournament at the Sevierville Golf Club. Their two-round total of 30 over-par 606 has MC tied for 13th in the collegiate invitational.

 

Eastern Kentucky University maintained their team lead with a 277 on Monday. Over the first two rounds, EKU has shot a 12 under par 564.

 

Individual honors after the first two rounds belong to Carson-Newman's Tom Forster. His 71-65-136 is eight shots under par to pace the participants. Marshall's Alex Weiss is presently in second place with a 68-69-137 just one shot off the pace.

 

Maryville's leader is Garrett Compliment. His 73-74-147 is tied for 32nd place among the field. D.J. Shelton shot a 76-75-151 to place 52nd overall. Tyler Bray improved to an 80-73-153 for a 60th place standing before the final round. Wil Manuel tallied a 78-77-155 for a 66th place effort. Doug Whitten added an 83-78-161 to help MC to a 606 team effort after a pair of rounds on the  6,925 yard course.

 

The Scots will finish the three-round invitational on Tuesday in Sevierville, Tennessee.
