After a slow first half, Maryville scored three times in the second half to cruise to a 3-0 victory over LaGrange in women's soccer action Saturday on the campus of LaGrange College.
In the first half, the Scots would have a tough time figuring our the Panthers defense. Maryville would only take two shots in the first half with neither being on goal. LaGrange would also record two shots in the first half.
Half time was a welcomed rest and adjustment period for the Scots. Less than a minute into the half, Allyson Hale would score the eventual game winner with the assist going to Sierra Siegel. After the first minute of the second half, the two teams would be deadlocked until the 82nd minute when Siegel found the back of the net from Casey Gentile. Maryville would put the icing on the cake with a goal in the last minute from Ashley Howarth. The Scots out shot the Panthers 15-2 and had more corner kicks in the final half. Mandy Marshall would stop all four LaGrange shots on goal for her seventh win of the season.
"We didn't play very well in the first half and LaGrange did a good job of keeping us off balance," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "We made some adjustments at half time and the ladies played well in the final half."
The win brings Maryville to 10-2-2 on the year and 8-1-1 in USA South play. Maryville will travel to Ferrum this coming Friday for their next match. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
