Eight first half goals lead the way and five second half goals slammed the door as Maryville defeated Mary Baldwin in Women's Soccer action on Saturday afternoon as part of Homecoming Weekend on the campus of Maryville College.
Allyson Hale was responsible for the first two goals of the afternoon with Sierra Siegel assisting on the first and Ashley Howarth the second. Howarth would get in on the scoring, filling the net twice with assists going to Alexis Franco and Hale. The fifth Maryville tally would come off the foot of Siegel from Franco. Senior Phoebe Leo would close out the scoring in the first half as she scored the final three goals with Taylor Emerson and Casey Gentile each assisting on one goal.
The second half would be more of the same as Hale scored from Howarth then Howarth tickled the twine from Tess Eisnaugle. Allyson Hale would add her fourth notch of the contest to make it 11-0. Siegel and Leo would each add another goal with Monica Besbris assisting on the Siegel goal to make the final 13-0. Megan Nugent would get the shut out in goal.
"Our ladies really filled up the goal today," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "Our four best scorers all found the back of the net and they found it consistently. This will help us moving forward."
The Scots' improve to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1 in USA South tilts. Maryville will be in action again Wednesday when they travel to Lookout Mountain to take on Covenant. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
