Scots to host opening round of USA South Tournament; first 100 MC students free

The Maryville College Scots are set to host the opening round of the USA South Tournament on Wednesday night, as MC takes of the Panthers of LaGrange College.

Maryville finished the regular season with a 10-6 mark in USA South play, as they enter the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed of the Western Division.

The Scots will play the Western Division fifth-seeded Panthers at 7 p.m., Feb. 13.

Admission to the USA South Tournament contests is $8 for adults and $3 for Faculty, Staff, Students, seniors and children. However, the first 100 Maryville College students to the game will receive free admission with a valid MC student ID.

No school passes or pass lists will be available for the USA South Tournament contests.

Maryville College comes into Wednesday night's matchup averaging 67.4 points per game. The Scots have shot 38.3 percent from the floor this season, while knocking down 32.8 percent from beyond the arc.

MC has 36.0 rebounds per game, while tallying 15.2 assists per contest in 2018-19.

The Scots and the Panthers split during the regular season – each team winning at home. LaGrange is a fifth seed with a 7-9 USA South record.

The winner of Wednesday's bout will travel to Averett University on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Averett is the top-seeded squad of the Western Division. The remainder of the tournament – the semifinals and finals – will be played at the highest remaining seed on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24.
