Rachel Hawn earns USA South Player of the Week honors for the Scots

The USA South Athletic Conference has released their performers of the and Maryville College's Rachel Hawn has been named the USA South Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The Franklin, Tennessee senior forward notched a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 77-53 win over USA South rival Huntingdon in the Scots' only contest last week. Hawn also added six assists, with just one turnover, and two steals in the victory.

"Rachel has been around numerous double-double performances this year," stated Maryville College Head Women's Basketball Coach Darrin Travillian. "She has done an unbelievable job on the boards this year and to see her add the scoring in a big opening conference game was a great day for her. With six additional assists, she had a great opportunity of a triple-double but she passed up some good looks for teammates cutting to the basket. I was also proud of her defense going up against one of the best post-players in the league. Rachel had a complete game against the Hawks, one of the best of her career at MC."

On the season, Rachel is averaging a double-double with 11.3 points per game while pulling down 11.1 boards per challenge. To date, Hawn has 694 career points while bringing down 595 career rebounds.

Maryville will prepare this week to host Ferrum College on Saturday and Averett University on Sunday in MC's Cooper Athletic Center.
