  • USA South releases baseball all-conference accolades; Blonder, Carpenter honored

    (FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2016 All-Conference awards for baseball. A total of 43 student-athletes have been named to the All-Conference teams. LaGrange College's Blake Butcher was named Player of the Year and N.C. Wesleyan College's Trey Croom earned Rookie of the Year accolades. Rounding out the individual honors was a Ferrum College trio which included Pitcher of the Year Jake Perkins, Rookie Pitcher of the Year Hunter Peck and Coach of the Year Ryan Brittle. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school.

    The Maryville College baseball team used a six RBI performance by senior designated hitter Chris Ervin to post their 26th victory of the season. The Scots defeated Centre College in their final home game of the season by the score of 17-5 on Tuesday evening.

    (FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - After the completion of the regular season, the seeding for the 2016 USA South Baseball Tournament has been determined. The tournament consists of the top-eight teams in the Conference and will begin Thursday, April 14 and continue through Sunday, April 17. All games will be played in Wilson, North Carolina at Fleming Stadium except for two contests which will take place on the campus of N.C. Wesleyan College at Bauer Field in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
