    USA South releases baseball all-conference accolades; Blonder, Carpenter honored (FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2016 All-Conference awards for baseball. A total of 43 student-athletes have been named to the All-Conference teams. LaGrange College's Blake Butcher was named Player of the Year and N.C. Wesleyan College's Trey Croom earned Rookie of the Year accolades. Rounding out the individual honors was a Ferrum College trio which included Pitcher of the Year Jake Perkins, Rookie Pitcher of the Year Hunter Peck and Coach of the Year Ryan Brittle. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school.

    Scots Diamondmen earn 4th seed in upcoming USA South Tournament (FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - After the completion of the regular season, the seeding for the 2016 USA South Baseball Tournament has been determined. The tournament consists of the top-eight teams in the Conference and will begin Thursday, April 14 and continue through Sunday, April 17. All games will be played in Wilson, North Carolina at Fleming Stadium except for two contests which will take place on the campus of N.C. Wesleyan College at Bauer Field in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Beyond the Boxscore will give insight into extraordinary students, focusing not only on their athletic achievements, but also on their interests, their background, and their academic career. Some stories will be funny, others heartwarming, but all of them will inspire others. Over the next few weeks we hope to go beyond the perceptions of how a college athlete is perceived by diving into their perspective away from their playing venue. This week we go Beyond the Boxscore with sophomore Evan Ezell. Evan is a fundamental cog within the Maryville College baseball program, and strives to help and motivate others daily.     Extra inning walk-off secures series victory for Scots over Averett The Maryville College baseball team rallied for an 11th inning walk-off win to claim a hard fought USA South series from Averett University on Saturday evening on MC’s Scotland Yard. Following a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Cougars, the Scots used a walk-off single by Logan Jenkins to move to 16-4 on the season and 7-2 in USA South play.
